The incident took place in Darien around 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at a Maywood Road home.
According to Sgt. Dan Skoumbros of the Darien Police, when officers responded to the home, the victim reported that shortly after pulling into her garage a man grabbed her bag off her lap when she opened her car door.
The bag contained money that she just withdrew from a bank in the center of town, Skoumbros said.
The victim described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and a surgical-style mask.
The victim reported that the suspect fled to the street and got into a waiting vehicle described as a white SUV, Skoumbros added.
The victim was not injured during the incident, police said.
Surveillance footage in the area shows a white SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer, following the victim’s vehicle to her residence and leaving the area shortly thereafter, Skoumbros said.
."We believe this is an isolated incident and no other information is being released at this time, as this is an ongoing investigation," he added.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Darien Detective Bureau at 203-662-5330.
